We went down
to the new Tiger-Tiger club at around 9 pm with the idea
it would be early enough to have a look round before the
crowds arrived. Think again - the place was already
buzzing.
Crowds
of expectant Croydon party people had already descended, and were already
checking the place out. So were we.
The club is laid out in a series of rooms consisting of
several bars, a restaurant and a couple of dance floors.
From the main entrance we were presented with a long open
bar stretching to the rear of the building where the stairs
led up to the main body of the club.
The
music was pretty loud down here but not so you couldn't
hear yourself talk. The main sound was the buzz of
conversation as people looked around trying to soak the
place in. Taking the stairs to the upper level you
started to get an idea of the scale of the place.
With corridors and passageways to left and right you got
the feeling you could get lost in here.
The
Kaz Bar was the first stop and we started to take in the
work that must have gone into the place. A fully styled
bar, it's themed on an Alladin's cave Arabian Knights scene.
The other main bars all have their own feel and look, from
the lounge lizard paradise of the Cocktail Bar to the contemporary
feel of the main areas.
Through
to the "Club" section and we found a large dance
floor with further large bars serving it. The music
was current dance but not so hard it wasn't accessible to
the audience which was a good mix of ages. The atmosphere
was generally relaxed and there didn't seem to be that edge
of aggression which has characterized so many Croydon night-spots
lately.
We
had a good time at Tiger-Tiger, it's early days and we hope
it stays the way it is. We'd definitely recommend
a visit, but might have a drink or two before arriving to
save on the clubby prices for a bottle of Becks.
