Best
Shot Youth Theatre was established in 1980 and
is a pioneer in youth drama, particularly the idea of doing
a full scripted show or major musical in a week.
There is something for all ages from 8 to 30 year olds.
Beauty And The Beast
COURSES
Saturday
morning drama workshops during school terms are held on Wimbledon
Broadway (next door to Polka Theatre). Solid training is given
in acting skills through the medium of actors' games and improvisation.
Many students start at 8 or 9 years old and continue until
they are 18+.
Six-day full-time courses take place in each of the main school
holidays. These holiday courses rehearse and perform
a major production at Wimbledon StudioTheatre. A full
week in a professional theatre! It's hard work but exciting
and fun with new friends to be made. Some students now have
a C.V. of upwards of 15 productions!
Beauty And The Beast
STAFFING
The
company is staffed entirely by theatre professionals. A theatre
director leads the Saturday workshops, and the holiday courses
have a professional director (who is a member of Equity and
of The Directors Guild), musical director and choreographer.
There is usually a high staff / student ratio on these holiday
courses.
