CROYDON DEPARTMENT STORE - ALLDERS

Since 1862 Allders has been at the heart of Croydon.

That year Joshua Allder started his retail business in Croydon which became one of the UK’s finest department stores - now the third largest department store in the UK, housing the 5th largest perfumery in the UK and many premium brands.

In 2005 after many successful years of operation Allders Department Stores group then owned by Scarlet Retail ran into financial difficulty which resulted in Allders stores around the UK being sold or closed down.

In May 2005 the Allders' flagship Croydon store together with the Allders name were saved when they were bought by the Jaeger fashion group owner/entrepreneur Harold Tillman. Under the direction of Chief Executive Andrew MacKenzie, we are proud to keep our core values of quality, service and value paramount.

To this day Croydon is the only store bearing the Allders name and remains at the heart of the town and the people of Croydon.
